It is finally warming up here in Michigan!! and I saw a Robin!! Yeah! So I decided to celebrate by making new pillows :) Nothing like some new pillows to celebrate spring and brighten up a room! These are actually old pillows that I sewed covers for. I have found that when sewing a cover for something, instead of doing measurements for the pattern, it is much more efficient if you lay the item on the material (in this case a pillow) an cut around the item, following its contours (give yourself at least half inch for stitches not too much you want it to fit snug). This gives a nice tailored fit. Especially since I was dealing with old beat up pillows. I used cotton material, soft yet durable. On one edge I used iron on Velcro so I can take them off and wash them whenever I want. That's the other thing. A lot of décor pillows are spot clean only. Not good for me. I got kids. . . and myself :)
Well, we are enjoying the sunshine that's for sure. Doing some spring cleaning and garden planning also. My to do list starts out like this: wash curtains and blinds, clean out the inside of my oven, open all my windows and wipe them down, mail out my seed order, spread compost, post more artwork for sale . . . and it keeps going and going from there :)
What's on your to do list for Spring? I'd love to hear what you are up in your home or garden. Do you have any Spring cleaning tips for me?
P.S. I heard about an article that said we were the coldest place on earth this year. Alaska had milder weather than us. What! That's crazy!!
