Caterpillars Everywhere

Well, Autumn and JT were excited to show Todd and I a caterpillar they found in the yard. This is a Milkweed Tussock Moth Caterpillar.

They actually found a whole butch of them. We walked around the yard, inspecting the milkweed plants and found more.  I've shared with you all how we do not mow our ditches, in an effort to help the endangered Monarchs. We did find one Monarch caterpillar.

We scared it and it curled up in a ball. Milkweed grows wild and is their main food supply. So glad our effort is paying off. Someday when we are more prepared, and the kids are a little older, we can put one of these little guys in a jar, feed it milkweed and hopefully witness the chrysalis and hatching of a newborn Monarch butterfly.
